How to Add a Tax Class Code

Need to add a new class code for a tax property or tax assessment.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to add a new Tax Class Code.

  1. Navigate to Property Revenues > Property Tax Billing > Region > State > Setup > Class Codes.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter in your 1-4 character Code.
  4. Select your AR Category.
  5. Select your Property Type
    1. General used as a broad classification for the tax property.
    2. Building, Land and Personal are used as specific classifications for assessment values.
  6. Enter in the Description for the new Class Code.
  7. Enter in a Short description.
  8. Enter in an Abbreviation.
  9. Select Applies to primary residence if properties in this class code can be owner-occupied and qualify for primary residence exemptions.
    1. This option is only available for AR Category 20 - Real Estate.
  10. Select Reset valuation if you would like Enterprise ERP to automatically reset the assessment values to zero at the start of a new bill run.
    1. This option is not available for class codes with the property type Personal.
  11. Select the appropriate Personal property type.
    1. If the value is not Manufacturing or Intangible, use Tangible as a default.
    2. This option is only available for class codes with property type Personal.
  12. Enter in or use the field help to select a Default Item Code.
    1. This field is used to calculate automatic depreciation in Enterprise ERP.  If you do not depreciate this class of property, leave blank.
    2. This option is only available for class codes with property type Personal.
  13. Enter in or use the field help to select a Default Trending Schedule.
    1. This field is used to calculate automatic depreciation in Enterprise ERP.  If you do not depreciate this class of property, leave blank.
    2. This option is only available for class codes with property type Personal.
  14. Enter a fixed percentage depreciation in the Percentage to Depreciate to field.
    1. If you wish to use a fixed percentage depreciation, leave the item code and trending schedule fields blank.  Then enter in the desired percentage amount.
    2. If you are using an item code and trending schedule, enter a percentage amount of 100%.
    3. This option is only available for class codes with property type Personal.
  15. Click Accept.
