How to run the Virginia Land Book

The Virginia Land Book program creates the land book report for real estate. The land book is a list of taxes to be billed and collected. It can be printed as either a preliminary or final book.
The Land Book program can be found by going to Property Revenue > Property Tax Billing > South > Virginia > Bill Processing > Land Book.
Use the following steps to create the land book:
Click Define.
Complete the fields, as required.
To create the final land book, you must select the Final Land Book checkbox.
Please note: the final land book can be run multiple times.
Click Accept.
Click Select.
The program displays the number of property records selected in the Properties Selected box.
Select an Output option on the toolbar to Print, Save, Display or generate a PDF of the land book.
The program displays the number of property records printed in the Properties Printed box.
The following is an explanation on the fields and what they are used for:
Version: Specifies the type or version of parcel records to process: 0–Current, 1–Tax, 9–Working, 10–Original.
Please note: the 9–Working option will always appear, even when there is not an active bill run and no Working parcel records.
Tax Year: Specifies the tax year for the records to include in the land book. Enter the year for the records to select in the box or leave the default year, which is the current assessment year.
Cycle: Identifies the billing cycle of the records to select for the land book. The Cycle box is only available if the record version is 1–Tax or 10–Original.
Final Land Book:Â If selected, the program creates a final land book, which selects all records from the active bill run.
When you select this checkbox, many of the remaining fields are no longer accessible. These fields are only available if you are creating the initial land book.
The Final Land Book checkbox is only available if the version type is 9–Working.
Remove Inactive Properties:Â Removes inactive parcel records, when selected.
Property Type:Â Determines the type of property for the records to include in the land book: Regular or Public Service.
Property Status:Â Provides the status of the properties for the records to include in the land book: Active, Exempt, or Both.
Bill Type: Determines the type of bills to process: All, Regular, Supplemental, or Rollback.
The category range fields specify a specific range to include records in the land book. Â Â Enter the beginning and ending values or accept the default values to include all records.
Name Range:Â Specify the range of customer names to include in the land book.
Date Range:Â Specify the range of bill dates to include in the land book.
Bill Range:Â Specify the range of bill numbers to include in the land book.
Land Use Range:Â Specify the range of land use codes to include in the land book.
The code fields identify a code for the records to include in the land book. Â Specify a code or leave the blank value to include records for all codes.Â
Charge Code:Â Identify the charge code for the records to include in the land book.
Class Code:Â Identify the class code for the records to include in the land book.
Jurisdiction Code:Â Identify the jurisdiction code for the records to include in the land book.
The following is an explanation on the Output options and what they are used for. It is not common to update these options when defining the land book report.
Type:Â Determines if printed output or an export file is created.
File Name:Â Provides the file name for the export file.
Length:Â Defines the length of the page for the printed output.
The default value is the length established in the Tax Settings program.
Vertical and Horizontal Layout:Â Define the vertical and horizontal layout for the export file.
The following include options determine items to include in the printed output. Select or clear the checkboxes as applicable to your organization.
Include Page Totals.
Include Certification Text.
Include Property Location.
Include Jurisdiction Description.
Include Additional Legal.
If you select the Include Additional Legal checkbox, the program includes the third line of a parcel's legal description.
Include Exempt Charge Amounts.
