Pay Advice-error-unable to locate employees position
On the advice image an employee received for a pay check, there is an error showing under one line of pay:
Error: Unable to locate employee's position
The same error shows in Time Entry History and in Earnings and Deductions for the record, and no rate pulled in for that day of pay.

Employee had a mid-cycle pay change, and the date of the pay record showing the error is the last effective day of the previous base pay record in Employee Job/Salary. Additionally, after duplicating the current base pay forward using Mass Contract Change, but before starting the payroll, a user updated the Pay Status on the prior base pay to Inactive in Employee Job/Salary. As a result, the system could not locate a valid Job/Salary record to read for either the Position Control Number or the rate.

For future rate increases, do not inactivate the prior base pay in Employee Job/Salary.
It is not necessary to make prior base pay records Inactive when an employee is only receiving a rate change. This Pay Status should only be used when employees should not receive that pay code but it is being kept current, for employees on leave, or other specific situations. It is also not necessary to uncheck the Primary Job/Position box or enter a Pay End date in that circumstance. With Effective Dated Pays, the dates will drive what Job/Salary record the system looks to when determining which rate an employee should receive for a specific day.Â
