General ledger account is not valid

Description of Issue

General ledger account is not valid

GL account is not valid

Context
  • Cashiering

  • General Billing

  • Utility Billing

  • Accounts Payable

  • Student Activities

  • Fixed Assets

  • Contracts

  • Purchasing

Cause

Entering a transaction outside of the general ledger and receiving error that the account is not valid.

Resolution

Please go to: Financials > General Ledger Menu > Set up chart of accounts > Account Master

  1. Click on Search

  2. Type in the Org, Obj, Project number or the long account string

  3. Click Accept

Does the account pull up?

If not, then the user is trying to use an account that does not exist. An account with the associated Org, Obj, Project or full account string would need to be created.

If one does, then the issue is the program where the transaction is being created not reading the account correctly or possibly something was entered differently in Account Master then where the transaction is being entered.
