Description of Issue

Client is requesting a connection between their Munis instance and the PatternStream integration. 

Context
  • Budget Book Configuration
  • Munis 2019+

  • Tyler Systems Management (TSM)
  • Software as a Service  (SaaS)

Cause

Site would like to utilize PatternStream a third-party budget book software that integrates with Munis Budget Book Configuration

Resolution

PatternStream requires direct access to the SQL database. This means that, depending on how Munis is hosted, it will need to have VPN enabled to ensure secure access for PatternStream to the SQL database.

User creation for SQL access (cloud admin administrator access needed)

  1. Open Google Chrome or other modern web browser
  2. Navigate to https://muniscloud.tylertech.com (Client in VMC) or https://muniscloud.tylerhost.net (Client in AWS)
  3. Sign-in with your CloudAdmin account
  4. Click on User Account Management > Create User
  5. Create a user for PatternStream
  6. Check User needs a SQL reporting account (near the bottom right of the page)
  7. Confirm account and Click Create User

Generate data for PatternStream (Requires Access to System Administration Tyler Menu)

  1. Sign-in to Enterprise ERP (Munis)
  2. Navigate to System Administration > Miscellaneous Administration > System Update
  3. Click Define Update Options
  4. In Utility / Program ID type in: bgbudtbk
  5. Click Run System Update
  6. In Budget Book Configuration, Click Update
  7. Input Projection number and other level settings
  8. Click Accept


Provide Reporting access to General Ledger (Requires Access to System Administration Tyler Menu)

  1. Sign-in to Enterprise ERP (Munis)
  2. Navigate to System Administration > Security > User Attributes
  3. Click Add and enter the PatternStream user information used in CloudAdmin
  4. Click Accept
  5. Go to Roles
    1. Under the Module View tab, select the Munis System folder under General
    2. Go to Data Access and select the Limited level for Reporting View Access
    3. Click Accept

Once these steps have been completed, please create a case with TSM SaaS for further configuration of SQL access for PatternStream User
