Duty code can come from one of three places, based on the Pay code and/or Job Class in the payroll(s) with a Check Date that falls within the defined range.

  1. If the pay falls within the defined Pay range on the Hourly Employees tab of the Generate, the value from the correlating Duty Code field is used.
  2. If the pay isn't found on the Generate screen, the pay code is crosswalked to a Duty Code using the WDC Crosswalk Type.
  3. If no crosswalk record is found, Duty Code is set to the Job Class from the pay recordthere is a Position on the Employee Job/Salary record Effective as of the ending Check Date defined on the Generate screen, and where Annual Salary is greater than 0, then Duty Code is the State Position field from Position Control.
  4. If there is no Position, the Generate will look at the State Position field on the Job Class Master, for the Job Class on the same Employee Job/Salary record used in Step 1.
  5. If there is no State Position value on the Job Class Master, the Generate will use the first 3 characters of the Job Class code.
  6. If the Pay is Crosswalked with the S275 DUTY Crosswalk Type, the 3rd digit will be replaced by the Crosswalk Code value.
